There are two types of starting for the three-phase asynchronous motor of the waste paper baler: direct starting and voltage reduction starting. Direct starting is a simple, reliable, and economical starting method, but the starting current of the motor is 4/7 times the rated current.
Excessive starting current can cause a significant drop in grid voltage, directly affecting the normal operation of other motors and electrical equipment working in the same grid; On the other hand, frequent starting of the motor can cause severe heating, accelerate coil aging, and shorten the lifespan of the motor. Only motors with small capacity are allowed to start directly, while cage type asynchronous motors with larger capacity generally use voltage reduction starting method due to the larger starting current. Voltage reduction starting refers to using starting equipment to appropriately reduce the voltage and apply it to the stator winding of the motor for starting. After the motor starts running, the voltage is restored to the rated value for normal operation. As the current decreases with the decrease of voltage, step-down starting achieves the goal of reducing the starting current.
